We wanted to provide resources that: 

• reflect issues of current research in India

• reflect issues of concern to people in India

• provide for a greater diversity of opinion

• give a voice to Indian academics working in the field of geography

Section 1 focuses on the state of the Punjab. This state is one of the wealthiest states in India. The wealth is based initially on agriculture, it was the centre of the Green revolution in India. But more recently there have been big improvements in manufacturing and services sectors. 

The relative wealth and development in the Punjab has led to great social, economic and environmental change and these are the areas that the resource section will focus on.
