Rajasthan is one of the most exotic and colourful states in India, with its harsh desert landscapes alongside enormous forts and grandiose palaces. The harshness of the semi arid landscape and unreliable monsoon rainfall means that the people of Rajasthan have had to learn to live in harmony with the environment rather than seeking to control it.....


Himachal Pradesh in the Himalayan foothills is known as the land of eternal snow peaks. The mountainous landscape has meant most people work in small scale agriculture or mining, but the state is better known for its acceptance of immigrants from Tibet, which has led to the blossoming of the region around Dharamsala, now the residence in exile of the Dalia Lama ....
